SCIENCE and NATURE

Many of our holograms are fun and wacky but we also have a large collection of scientific and nature orientated Holograms.  A Chieftain tank, a disappearing apple, a skull, falcon and even some lion cubs are captured in holographic form.

Holography is ideal for archival recording of valuables or fragile museum artefacts.  Our collection has some fine examples of this.  'Lindow Man' is a hologram of a man who died over 2000 years ago.  His body was preserved in peat and discovered at Lindow Moss, Cheshire (England) in 1984. He was nicknamed 'Pete Bogg' by the archaeologists who excavated his almost perfectly preserved body.  You can also see a beautiful and incredibly detailed hologram of the 'Broighter Boat'.  The original silver boat can be seen in the National Maritime Museum of Ireland in Dublin.

Skull
Hip Joint For a really 'hip' hologram our 'artificial hip joint' is hard to beat.  As you move from side to side you see this remarkable invention being assembled by the surgeons responsible at the Morris Muller Institute in Basle.  This could be particularly interesting for you if you know someone who has had one fitted or perhaps have one yourself.

  What visitors thought
I love the part with illusions & holograms the most. It's always so much fun - I've been to this camera obscura for the third time, I always take my friends there when they come to visit me in Edinburgh!

Having the kids fully engaged for two hours with minimal input from me! The staff were, to a man and woman, wonderfully attentive. Thank you for the personal attention.

I learned of this attraction from a taxi driver!! And what a good recommendation that turned out to be. My children also found this attraction very interesting and with the help of the stools, my youngest daughter managed to enjoy everything too. I would highly recommend this attraction and will be returning with more family and friends..........Thank you for a fantastic visit!

I like everything in your museum. Hologram of woman in kimono with harp music on the background was the most wonderful of all things!
