MAGIC EYE & OTHER OPTICAL ILLUSIONS - where seeing isn't believing

In the fascinating World of Illusions you will find an extraordinary collection of mind bending optical illusions and visual oddities. Here nothing is as it seems.

You will come across some classic optical illusions that trick the eye and mesmerise you, some over a hundred years old. Others are by artists such as M.C Escher, Salvador Dali, Octavio Ocampo, and many more.

Experience the magic of anamorphs - hidden images which appear only when viewed through a cylindrical mirror, transforming a wildly distorted image into an amusing or fascinating picture.

It is hard to appreciate just how your mind is tricked into believing something that is not there. Try to find out if images are still or moving, straight or tilting.

Some of the pictures at first glance seem 'normal', but look again and you will see some surprising things. See if you can spot the hidden images in our magic eye pictures, or find the hidden people and animals in our landscapes.

Magic eye pictures offer a whole new dimension of illusions behind what often seems a random pattern there are remarkable 3D hidden images.

Don't worry if at first you cannot make out the 3D images hidden inside the magic eye pictures. This has little to do with your eyesight but more to do with your state of mind and ability to relax. To discover whether or not you can see magic eye pictures, try this simple test. Take a pen and hold it at arms length. Now stare through it (try focusing on what is behind, for example a wall). After ten seconds you should see two pens. Remember don't look at them, look through them. When you look at our pictures, we will remind you not to look at the patterns on the wall, but to look through them in a relaxed way.

Our visitors are thrilled when they seethe 3D image behind, even so more if there is someone beside them who is struggling to do so! Don't worry if you cannot do it right away. Viewing magic eye pictures can take a little practice. It can help you relax too!

  What visitors thought
I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures that were 3D when you adjust your eyes. I used to enjoy the books but had forgotten how to do it. Once I had got the hang of it again I found it quite easy.

Fantastic! Had such a great laugh.

All the optical illusions were really cool and there was a lot of stuff you could touch or kinda take a part in.
Visitor Survey 2007

As there was 7 of us, there was always something to interest every member of the group in each of the rooms. It also allowed for a lot of interaction between members of the group(aged 21 to 56). It proved to be highly enjoyable, extremely informative and good value for money.

If I had to pick one thing as my favourite I would pick the projected image on the floor with the fishes which reacted to you walking on it..... I want one at home now !!

Finally managing to see something in the magic eye pictures! And the optical illusions were amazing fun (particulary the one where you morph pictures of yourself into babies & chimps! & the ones where you swop faces with the person sat opposite)

I found the presentation and the attractions in each room brilliant, gave us many laughs and smiles, would definately recommend and go again.
